Hello,

My name is Mike Franczek and I am a Freelance CGI/Perl programmer. My main objective to this blog is to keep a record of my works, as well as allow others to see the daily happenings a freelancer can go through.

I have been working freelance for around 10 years. I started off on the WWW as most would expect. I spent my first 24 hours (yes non stop) searching the net for all of its wonders back in April of 1997.

It was a few months later I found out about sites like Angelfire.com and GeoCities.com.

From there my love for design grew into wanting to do more. It was fine to create “pretty” sites, but with no interactivity, they were pretty useless.

I met a good friend who walked me through learning Perl/CGI and from then on it has been a daily routine for me to write/edit/modify any script I can work on.

Most normally that is the Freelancers script from SmarterScripts.com. The same script that runs Scriptlance.com - although Scriptlance is highly modified at this point.

Tomorrow I will talk more about what Scriptlance is and how it has worked for me.
